Altavins Viticultors SL is a winery located in Batea, in the south of Catalonia. It is part of the D.O. Terra Alta, a wine region located in the South West of Catalonia that stands out for the quality of Grenache, white and black and that enjoys millennial tradition.
In this wine-producing area, fine wines are produced, distinguished by their ‘body and soul’ and, at the same time, by the essence of the different varieties, especially those that are autochthonous.
Our philosophy of work is to observe at all times the virtues of the grape and enhance them to stand out in the wines and extract the body and soul that characterizes the wines of this area.
The Jane family used to make a few bottles of champagne and wine for their own consumption and that of their relatives. Choosing the best grapes from their vineyards and making the coupages with the three autochthonous varieties of the Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada, tasks that the whole family performed with enthusiasm and patience bottle by bottle.
It was in the year 1977 when another family of wine tradition joined their efforts and the cavas Jané Baqués S.L. The same illusion, the same passion for the well-done things of his predecessors were reflected in the construction of the new cellars. Since then Jané Baqués has been adapting the best technology in all the processes of making their wines and cavas.
